The '95 Wheel Horse is dead, and I am going to have to replace it before much more snow flies. Anyone have any preferences? This thing was a trooper for years but the kohler threw a rod, and on top of the other issues it had, it is a goner. Enjoy some photography of the damn thing while you contemplate. I could get another Wheel Horse, maybe an old Ford, or something else. Has to have a 46" cut deck, and a snow blower attachment, possibly a tiller.

My dad used to have six of these things in the back yard. ... He eventually realized he was out of his mind and got rid of all but the nicest of them.

Oh yeah.

All of his were from the 70s and 80s, and all were bought dirt cheap or given to him. He's the type that'll rape and pillage multiple cars/trucks/tractors and make once really nice one.

How about a 1960 Wheel Horse? My grandpa has a couple from around this time period.

Also, these things are fast , and they turn on a dime.

those things are great. I would just need to install a cupholder to hold my beer

2 things the old wheel horse did not do!

The commercial ones are used to mow football fields. They even made a jet powered one that hit 96 MPH.

jesus I want that one. All I need to hit is 88 with my flux capacitor strapped to the back

These old Wheel Horse's are awesome. For new, Husqvarna's LS line has a locking rear differential. There has got to be some Jalop points for that alone. http://www.husqvarna.com/us/products/ga…

that is awesome. Points given

Anything old. Stay in the 70's through 80's.
They just don't make the new ones well enough. You might even be better off getting your current set up fixed since you have the blower already. Kohler's are easily had, and switching out the whole engine is pretty easy.
Here is my current summer mower: 81 Wheel Horse B-115, it's the blackhood. The other two (72 WH Raider 8 and Cub 76) are projects.

And this is my current winter set up: Late 70's Allis Chalmers 712H. It needs a seat, and will be restored this summer.

But ya, go old. They weigh a lot more, and I guarantee it will outlast anything bought at lowes/home depot.

I say the John Deere R70 rear engined, rear wheel drive and very light and nimble(for a mower) I had one, until the 8hp engine died on me, not mine in the pic.

I have a '60s Massey-Ferguson sitting in the garage in need of……….something. Idk. It doesn't run.

Or this guy , if you want the full Jalop. Think of the fun $2500 could buy you....
![]() 01/21/2014 at 13:08 |

oh those little ones are great. Hmmm I think the Sears riders from that time were rebranded M-F. If so I have a blower for one already
![]() 01/21/2014 at 13:09 |

yeah I know of a few 8N's tucked away. I have a couple of acres, that might be a little too big of a beast for it. I would just drive it to work though
![]() 01/21/2014 at 13:11 |

Actually... I stand corrected. This is the most Jalop tractor possible.

Wouldn't have to worry about speeding tickets. That would be a benny.

lol just the drunk driving charges I would get. I dont ride a tractor without a fine american lager as my co pilot

Cub Cadet gets my vote. Not shown: hitch with 5 gal bucket weight (full of quick-set cement).

nice! Those old cubs are great!

Go big or go home. This would be able to move all the snow you'll ever see.
And mow your lawn in about 30 seconds. You may need to rethink your landscaping though.
![]() 01/21/2014 at 14:13 |

I could go full on deep and screw with the Unimog blower too!
![]() 01/21/2014 at 14:33 |

While the dual chutes are impressive, that appears to be a single stage blower. Must have a two stage blower for maximum loft so that you can properly deposit all your snow on the neighbors roof.
![]() 01/21/2014 at 14:35 |
|
lol you ever seen how far those things throw (even for a single stage)? like 30 feet out
![]() 01/21/2014 at 14:41 |
|
This is the only acceptable single stage snow blower.

I think the old GE Elec-Trac's are pretty Jalop despite the non-fossil-fuel burning engine.
![]() 01/21/2014 at 14:49 |

Elec-Trak, with a "k" but Kinja doesn't want me to edit.

jay-sus I want that thing. Never fit in the garage though

whoa this is cool!
![]() 01/21/2014 at 15:08 |

As cool as the train is I'd rather have the Claas. Way more portable and versatile.

John Deere. Had once since 92 and then bought one in 2005 and both still go good

MTD Yard Bug. Rear-engined, only came in Lotus Racing colors, somewhat driftable, good in snow, reliable, easy to work on, good for rear-wheel-drive snow drifting, and FUN.
